Glowing pumpkin trails head into Halloween week from Morrisburg to Saskatoon
PumpkInferno marks its 15th season at Upper Canada Village and, like Saskatoon's Pumpkins After Dark, runs until Oct. 31.

MORRISBURG, Ont. —
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and several of Canada's big pumpkin walks are heading into their final week. 4
PumpkInferno's 15th season
PumpkInferno is back at Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg, Ont., for its 15th season, with thousands of lit pumpkin creations along the streets and paths of the historic village. 12
New exhibits this year include PKF1, a racing adventure through the decades; Jungle Giants, with larger-than-life wild creatures; Timeless Toys, a tribute to childhood favourites; and Postmarked Paradise, a trip across all seven continents. Returning displays include Feline Frenzy, Ladies of the 80's and Rhinestone Rodeo. 1
The pumpkins are not real jack-o'-lanterns but hand-carved artificial pumpkins, each moulded from the shape of a real one. A team of artists from Eastern Ontario starts designing and building the displays each spring. 12
The village says the event, which began there in 2012, was the first of its kind in Canada. A Painted Pumpkin Art Gallery shows hundreds of pumpkins decorated by local students, and a sound and light show plays Ladies of the 80's tunes. 12
PumpkInferno runs nightly until Oct. 31, with entry from 6:30 p.m. and the last entry slot from 9 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets must be bought online in advance, and the village says most nights sell out. 12
Admission is $23 plus HST for adults, $22 for seniors and $21 for students and children aged 5 to 12. Children four and under get in free, and parking is free. 24
Saskatoon and Calgary
In Saskatoon, Pumpkins After Dark runs until Oct. 31 at Prairieland Park, with thousands of hand-carved pumpkins, a new Witches of Blackthorne Prison Maze and displays inspired by Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters and classic monsters. 3
Organizers describe it as family friendly with no jump scares. A free Ghost Hunter Scavenger Hunt and live pumpkin carving demonstrations run through the season, and parking is free. 3
Calgary's Heritage Park held its Ghouls' Night Out in the park's historical village from Oct. 23 to 25, with a Halloween maze, roaming characters, storytelling, a haunted midway and theatre shows. 4
Ghost stories in Ottawa
Morrisburg is about an hour from Ottawa. In the capital, the Haunted Walk's lantern-lit tour leaves from Sparks Street and spends 75 minutes on the city's ghost stories and darker history, in English or French. 4
