Jacob Fowler made a career-high 46 saves for his sixth straight win as the Montreal Canadiens beat the St. Louis Blues 2-0 on Tuesday night. 1

Canadiens 2, Blues 0

Zachary Bolduc scored against his former team at 8:37 of the second period, roofing a one-timer off a pass from Mike Matheson. Florian Xhekaj made it 2-0 at 2:17 of the third with his first NHL goal, tipping a Matheson shot; the goal stood after a review for a high stick. 1

Montreal was outshot 24-3 in the third period. Fowler's 46 saves set a Canadiens record for a shutout by a rookie and were the third most in any Canadiens shutout, behind Jacques Plante and Sam Montembeault. 1

“He just kind of rises to the moment,” Xhekaj said of Fowler. Montreal (7-3-2) has won three in a row and has points in five straight games. 1

“We bent but we didn't break,” coach Martin St. Louis said. 1

Panthers 5, Jets 1

Matthew Tkachuk had four assists and his brother Brady had a goal and two assists as the Florida Panthers won at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg. 2

Carter Verhaeghe scored twice and Florida's power play went 3-for-5, with the Panthers scoring three times in 2:51 in the first period. Adam Lowry scored short-handed for Winnipeg (4-5-3), which is 0-4-2 in its past six games. 2

“We really beat ourselves in this one,” Jets coach Scott Arniel said, adding that “our penalty kill certainly has to be a lot better than it was.” 2

Matthew Tkachuk reached 200 assists with Florida in 255 games, the fastest in franchise history. The teams meet again Friday in Florida. 2

Golden Knights 4, Senators 1

Raphael Lavoie scored his first NHL goal at 8:01 of the third period to break a 1-1 tie as the Vegas Golden Knights beat Ottawa at T-Mobile Arena. Lavoie had been expected to sit out until goalie Carter Hart was injured at the morning skate. 3

Shane Pinto tied it on the power play 34 seconds into the third after Braeden Bowman opened the scoring late in the second. William Karlsson and Jack Eichel added empty-net goals, and Adin Hill made 25 saves. 3

Jonas Johansson also made 25 saves for the Senators (8-5-0), who had beaten the New York Rangers 7-4 on Saturday. Drake Batherson extended his point streak to five games. 3

“It's a 2-1 game with two empty-netters. Pretty good,” Senators coach Travis Green said. 3
